Marketing your company today is limitless which has many business marketing minds shaking their heads today. The buzz is around social marketing for business, while the SEO (search engine optimization) experts can improve your ranking. What about Google AdWords for instant targeted traffic to your site? There has to be some business in all those email addresses you have been collecting. How does viral marketing work anyways? Is direct mail coming back?
Man that’s a mouthful! Questions like these press the master-minds of business everyday. Promoting your business on the internet can be a blind puzzle or methodically calculated steps that will have outstanding results. But where do you start?

Business advertising has a sweet spot that is unique to every viable business. One aspect of finding it comes from a blend of market and website research. This will give your website designer intelligence needed to create a marketing design that calls your targeted audience to action. The other aspect of finding your keyword sweet spot is examining your website analytics data. How are visitors interacting with your website?
Filtering Google Analytics Data for Engagement
With website analysis tools like Google Analytics finding your sweet spot is a couple clicks away. It is done through Advanced Filters. The advanced filter option is found under each metric and dimension.
Then you can set the criteria to anything you wish. In the example below I want to find my most engaging keywords. If I did not use advanced filters I would be presented with thousands of keywords people entered to access my website. It’s overwhelming and not that meaningful.

- Navigate to “All Traffic Sources”
- Select “Advanced Filter” (at bottom of table)
- Set “Pages/Visit” to greater than or equal to 2
- Set “Visits” to greater than 10
Note: This is the old interface but the same concept can be applied in the new one.
What that means for all businesses is you should become acquainted with your market before you create your business model or website. That’s only one part of the equation! When people visit your website, measurement and analysis is an essential! Now you can add measurement and analysis to your market intelligence for a quick gateway into your keyword sweet spot (money keywords).
